On August 25th, 2026, Beloved singer, philanthropist, and icon Dolly Parton passed away at the age of 80 after complications with cancer. Although Dolly, and her husband Carl Dean who passed away in March of 2025, did not have any children, she’s survived by her 6 other living siblings, relatives, and goddaughter Miley Cyrus.   
 
Dolly was loved internationally, across cultures and generations. More than just a musical artist, her activism with the Dollywood Foundation and the Imagination Library assisted millions of children and families, and will continue to do so after her passing.

On July 23rd - Radio KAIR had the distinct honor and privelege of attending the ribbon cutting for The Terraces at Kingwood Towncenter to celebrate the remodeling of the entire facility!

It was an all day affair, complete with food, drinks, music and the amazing opportunity to sit down and interview residents, staff, guests, and everyone involved that make this independent living community so special. Chris Coulter the owner of the Terraces explained the function of the assisted and independent living facilities:

Katrina Kirkpatrick, the Executive Director of the Terraces, discussed in an interview with Radio KAIR's very own Virgilio Davis how it's not a one size fits all when it comes to assisted living; some facilities are better at meeting certain needs, and if a more approriate community would better serve a potential resident, then staff will do their best to inform and assist to so that the best decision possible for the resident is made.



As the evening approached, the ceremony went in full swing as members of the East Montgomerey Chamber of Commerce showed up dressed to impress!

On Monday, July 13th - Radio KAIR had the opportunity to meet with Humble ISD to discuss do what we can to assist with the upcoming Erase the Need event!

We at Radio KAIR are honoreded announce the Stuff the Truck initiative! We'll be partnering with Atascocita Fire Department to fill an entire Fire Truck with backpacks stuffed with school supplies on August 1st.

On June 26th - Radio KAIR made the trip to visit Henry's Home Horse and Human Sanctuary alongside the East Montgomery Chamber of Commerce to volunteer as a part of the Bobbie Bodenhamer Give Back Program; where the Chamber randomly selects a non profit in need of support.

The positive energy was electric as chamber members cleaned, helped with repairs, and even got the chance to spend time with the incredible animals of the ranch. The event was hosted by Denis and Darlene Gagnon, the owners of the ranch, who walked the volunteers through the proper protocols of maintenance and animal handling. 




"Horses can feel a heartbeat over fifty feet away, and as you take the time to center yourself and find a level of calm, so do they. A calm horse and a calm human can easily find themselves in synch, which allows veterans and retired first responders suffering from ptsd to truly cultivate their own personal sanctuary. It's Empowering." - Darlene stated during the morning's orientation. 

It was a day filled with great people, supporting a great cause, all to some great music, courtsey of Radio KAIR's very own Smiley, who emceed the event!

In Mid June - Station Owner Bob Robertson had the chance to sit down with Mitch and Darian, the owners of Main Street Hub, a local lounge serving wines, charcuterie boxes, and sandwiches. They're also the owners of The Rowdy Chick, a boutique located right next door on Main Street, in downtown Humble (right across from the station!)

Not only business owners, both Darian and Mitch are community leaders in Humble; each investing time and energy to organize events like Merchant Meetings for fellow owners to discuss how to best support each other and the community, to festivals like Music & Motors, and the Sip & Stroll!

Bob Robertson puts it best during the interview: "Mitch and Darian have taken the bull by the horns, and are instrumental in making so much of whats going on in downtown Humble happen."

Yesterday marked the anniversary of Country music legend Merle Haggard's birth and passing. Born in April 6th, 1937, and passing the same very same date in 2016, Merle left behind a legacy defined by struggle, strife, and success as a founder of one of the most beloved subgenre's in music; Outlaw Country.

It's no suprise that Merle's adolesence was plagued by hardship, which would later influence his expression as a Country artist. Losing his father the tender age of nine, a young merle's life became defined by two things: being on the wrong side of the law, and music. 

In his twenties, in and out of prision habitually, seeing his two closest friends on deathrow convinced him to strive towards a legitimate life, and soon got the equivalent of a high school degree while incarerated, as well as joined the prisons band. 

While serving his sentence, Merle would go on to experience perhaps the single greastest influencing moment of his life: Johnny Cash performing 'Folsom Prison Blues' at the prison. From that moment, Merle became fueled by a fiery passion to reject the smooth sophistication of country music at the time, and instead channel a sound more authentic and aggressive, the Bakersfield sound.

Merle's career would go on to span over half a century, with him being given a full pardon for past crimes by then Govenor Ronald Reagan, and would end with his passing from cancer in 2016 at the age of 79. His story will always be one of triumph, authenticity, and rebellion; influencing future artists across genres for years to come.

After a hiatus, Radio KAir is live and broadcasting! Originally founded in 2017 by our very own Bob Robertson, Radio KAir has a focus and passion for nostalgic music, and connnecting the communties of Humble, Atascocita, Porter, New Caney, Huffman and Kingwood. 

From potential floods and hurricanes, to local news, events, and business, Radio Kair was created to inform and connect as many as possible in the greater Lake Houston area. Though it's been a few years since our last broadcast, we still share this same goal and passion, just with some new faces! 

Bob Robertson has joined forces with Daniel Roberts (yours truly) to maximize the stations potential, as well as Ally Nona, our social media expert, and Alex "Smiley" Maddox, a veteran of the station.

The four of us are so excited to connect our local communities, and bring our love for the music of the past to the 21st century!
